Error Saving MSP File in OCT

March 19, 2015 Leave a comment

When saving an MSP file in the Office 2013 OCT you receive an error that says, “Unhandled exception: NodeType get property called for OXmlNode with null interface”

This can happen if you have updated the Admin folder of you distribution point & are modifying an existing MSP file.

Run OCT again. Instead of opening the existing MSP create a new one. Then click File Import.

Browse to your existing MSP file & click Open. Now make any necessary changes & click File>Save As & name it accordingly.

You’re not connected to the internet

The first time you or your users run OneNote 2013 they may get a dialog box that says, “You’re not connected to the internet. Your notebook will be created on this computer and will not sync to the cloud or to your phone.”

Unfortunately there is no Group Policy setting in the Office 2013 Administrative Templates to suppress this message. However it can be suppressed by using a Group Policy Preference to push a registry setting. The key if HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\onenote. The value type is REG_DWORD & the name is FirstBootStatus. Set the Value data to 0x1000101 or 16777473 in binary. Be sure to put a check by “Run in logged-on user’s security context” & type a description.
